Teamwork takes centre stage in House Drama Competition
A capacity crowd was on hand on Tuesday as the pupils of Harrogate Ladies’ College took centre stage in the annual House Drama Competition.
House Drama provides pupils with the opportunity to take full ownership of every aspect of their performances. Scripts, props, lighting, sound, and costumes are all in the pupils’ hands, which promotes leadership, teamwork and collaboration.
Austen House Captain, Ruth, has embraced the responsibility of this pupil driven project.
“It’s great fun to have something that’s pupil driven,” she said.
“You get so many different age groups involved, and we’ve all worked so hard together during the last six weeks.”
Franklin House Captain, Josephine, will take more than memories away from House Drama this year.
“Everybody gave up their time to make House Drama a success, and it gave us an opportunity to make new friends and work together as a team,” she said
Nightingale claimed the overall winners’ prize, but Head of Drama (Maternity), Dr Emma Stokes, was impressed by the standard of all performances.
“The house drama competition is a fantastic opportunity for all pupils to step out of their comfort zone and build confidence in a supportive environment,” Dr Stokes said.
“The pupils put an incredible amount of work into their performances, and it was amazing to see the teamwork and talent on display!”
