Popular Author Opens Highfield Library
Boys and Girls at Highfield Prep School welcomed a special visitor to school recently to open the new Library.
Gervase Phinn, the best-selling children’s books author, was guest of honour at the official opening of the Library attended by pupils, staff and parents.
Mr Phinn spent the morning meeting all of the children and Librarians. He captivated the audience with his stories during assembly and Year 4 pupil Mia Jaffar read aloud two of his poems with great comic timing.
A former teacher and school’s inspector, Mr Phinn said,
“It was a real honour to be invited to Highfield Prep School and open the Library. The boys and girls clearly have a passion for reading which was also apparent by the number of books I was asked to sign!”

James Savile, Head of Highfield Prep School said,
“We were delighted to welcome Mr Phinn to Highfield Prep School and show him around our Library. It’s a wonderful facility that everyone can enjoy.
“Reading brings so much pleasure and it enables children to let their imaginations run free which is important for developing creative writing skills.
“I would like to thank the parents for all their support and who helped make the Library possible, and to Mr Phinn for giving so much time on such a wonderful occasion.”
