Careers Fair Builds Connections for Harrogate Ladies’ College Students
A selection of Russell Group Universities, architects, legal practices, and the Armed Forces were just some of the exhibitors on show at this year’s Be Inspired Careers Fair at Harrogate Ladies’ College
Prep 6 pupils from Highfield Prep School and members of all year groups at Harrogate Ladies’ College had 1-on-1 conversations with nearly 40 businesses from a diverse range of fields, and Lancaster University delivered a seminar on Further Education and Picking a University Course.
Deputy Head (Academic), Miss Siobhan Scully, was grateful for the exhibitors’ continued support of the Harrogate Ladies’ College careers programme.
“We are very thankful to all our exhibitors who have kindly, and very generously, given up their time to attend the Careers Fair,” Miss Scully said.
“It’s so fantastic to have such a diverse range exhibitors here at Harrogate Ladies’ College, and we are very fortunate to have exhibitors give up their time and have 1-on-1 conversations with our pupils.”
Tiff Snowden, Director of Blue Willow Heritage, a local heritage consultancy firm, spoke about the importance of pupils following their passions, regardless of the industry.
“Archaeology is a very male dominated industry,” Snowden said.
“I am proud to lead an all female team who have paved the way for young graduates entering the industry.”
Alicia Carter, Associate Director at CRBE, is an alumna of Harrogate Ladies’ College, and was thrilled to return as a professional.
“It’s absolutely wonderful to be back at school,” Carter said.
“It’s been great to see some familiar faces and speak to pupils about their potential career paths.”
Isabel Kerr, Trainee Solicitor at Consilia Legal, spoke about the full circle nature of the careers programme at Harrogate Ladies’ College.
“We came to the school and spoke about the different types of law at a Be Inspired talk last year,” Kerr said.
“We spoke with a student who was very confident and passionate about studying law, and has now completed some work experience with us through the connection made.”
The Be Inspired Careers Programme prepares Harrogate Ladies’ College pupils for tomorrow’s workplace through 1-to-1 support and guidance, as well as developing transferable skills that future employers value.
