Drama at Harrogate Ladies’ College
We’re passionate about Drama at Harrogate Ladies’ College. We believe it builds confidence, self esteem, communication skills and freedom of expression – skills which once learnt will last a lifetime and will be beneficial to our pupils in all walks of life.
All pupils at College study Drama at Key Stage 3 as standard and for those who want to extend their studies in this area we also offer GCSE and A Level Drama courses. We have specialist Drama teachers to support, nurture and inspire our dramatists, as well as excellent drama facilities including a theatre (or Small Hall) and a 350 seat state of the art Assembly Hall.
As well as acting and performing there are also great opportunities at Harrogate Ladies’ College to gain experience of stage craft techniques such as production, lighting, sound, set design, costume design and make-up. There really is something for everyone and we have incredibly high levels of participation across the school.
Lights, Camera, Action!
Our Drama Department is an incredibly vibrant and active part of our school. With regular theatre trips (to see how the professionals do it!); Junior and Senior House Drama competitions; and outstanding major productions such as “Anne of Green Gables – The Musical” and “Alice in Wonderland”, there’s always something going on and something to get involved in at every stage of school life.
Our extra-curricular programme also offers a fabulous range of Drama and Theatre clubs. Many of our girls also choose to take additional Speech and Diction lessons in preparation for LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) examinations. Visit the Extra Curricular section of our web site to find out more.
For girls with an exceptional talent, or potential we have a Drama Scholarship program which is held in high esteem within our whole school community and also carries a number of other benefits. To find out more, please visit the Scholarships section of our website.
