A Family of Top UK Independent Schools

We are a family of three leading UK independent schools delivering a world class education in the heart of Harrogate.  Here’s an overview of our schools:

  • Highfield Pre-School – for boys and girls aged 2-4 years
  • Highfield Prep School – for boys and girls aged 4-11 years
  • Harrogate Ladies’ College – for day and boarding girls aged 11-18 years

History in the Making

We were originally established in the 1890s by educational pioneers of UK independent schools.  Today we retain a strong sense of history, but with a forward thinking, progressive and modern outlook – much like that of our pioneering founders.

Better Together – A Family of uk INDEPENDENT schools

Our three schools are fully integrated to provide a seamless educational experience.  Each of our schools shares the same ethos; the same campus; the same Board of Governors and the same Principal. This collaborative approach enables us to share expertise, knowledge and best practice to ensure academic and pastoral excellence throughout our three schools.

Our schools are characterised by a strong sense of community – in fact, when we asked our pupils, parents and staff to describe our schools, “family” and “community” were the most frequently used words.

Christian Values

We are a Christian foundation and are part of the Allied Schools Council which also includes a number of other leading UK independent schools – Canford School, Stowe School, Westonbirt School and Wrekin College. Each of the schools in the alliance is committed to upholding Christian values and to sharing best practices.

We are also a member of the Girls Schools Association (GSA) which represents many of the top UK independent day and boarding schools and is part of the Independent Schools Council.

Celebration of Diversity

We’re immensely proud of the social, economic and cultural diversity that goes to make up our school – it’s what makes us a vibrant and exciting community to be part of.

Academic and Pastoral Excellence

Preparing our pupils for the future and ensuring academic excellence are at the heart of everything we do.  We’re passionate about inspiring each and every pupil from 2-18 years to achieve their full potential.  We also believe a modern education should go beyond academic development and we encourage all of our pupils to embrace a wide range of exciting opportunities that life in our schools offer.

Our focus on academic and pastoral excellence is embodied by our school ethos of developing a passion for learning and a love of life in each and every child within our whole school community.
