Highfield Prep School Welcomes Mabel Jones Author
Highfield Prep School boys and girls welcomed Mabel Jones author Will Mabbitt to school recently to talk about how he comes up with ideas for his stories.
The bestselling children’s author of the hugely popular Mabel Jones series, Will explained to Key Stage 2 pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 how he creates characters for stories. In his latest book Mabel Jones is trapped in the Noo World – a strange future run by animals – and children had the opportunity to wear animal masks whilst he demonstrated how storylines are developed.
Will also spoke about how he writes in cafes, on trains, on the toilet and sometimes, when his laptop runs out of power, in his head!
The third instalment of the of the successful Mabel Jones saga sees our intrepid hero embark on an unlikely adventure in search of the legendary Doomsday Book – an ancient document that might help her save the ‘hooman’ race. The hilarious story has received rave reviews and is an excellent family read-aloud book.
Pupils also had an opportunity to obtain personally signed and dedicated copies of Mabel Jones and The Doomsday Book and couldn’t wait to get home to start reading it! The book is a world-wide success and has been translated into 12 languages so far.
