Harrogate Ladies’ College to Host Oxbridge Preparation Conference
Senior representatives from Oxford and Cambridge Universities are to deliver a free Oxbridge Preparation Conference on Monday 28 September from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Harrogate Ladies’ College.
Dr Joe Organ from Brasenose College, Oxford and Tom Norwood from Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge will also be joined by current Oxbridge students and Lucy Welch, a former pupil of Harrogate Ladies’ College who graduated this summer from Worcester College, Oxford, with a 1st in French and Philosophy. Together they will provide information and offer advice to local school pupils on how to prepare and apply to these world renowned universities.
Richard Tillett, Senior Deputy of Harrogate Ladies’ College and organiser of the conference said,
“I’ve worked with Sixth Form students applying to Oxbridge for many years and it really is more competitive than ever now. There’s a real benefit in starting to think about a potential application before you even start Sixth Form. That’s why we’re hosting this conference which is designed to help Year 10 and Year 11 pupils and their families to start the journey now.
“I’m delighted that we’ve got representatives from both Oxford and Cambridge and current undergraduates from both universities speaking at the conference. They’ll be telling the delegates exactly what they’re looking for in applicants, and how students can strengthen their application.”
Richard Tillett, Senior Deputy, Harrogate Ladies’ College
