Amazing Technicolour Year 6 Production
Year 6 pupils at Highfield Prep School recently wowed audiences with their amazing technicolour performance of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice hit musical, ‘Joseph’.
All pupils in Year 6 took part in the performance, putting their acting, singing, and dance skills to the test. The production also included a solo violin performance by one brave 11 year-old.
Headteacher of Highfield Prep School, James Savile, said the pupils’ confidence and professionalism was inspiring and that the performance was the culmination of seven years’ work, since they were in Reception class.
“All of our pupils have timetabled Music and Drama lessons with specialist teachers from Reception onwards. Every year, each child gets their special moment on stage from Nativities in Reception, through Easter Cantatas and concerts, to their final Year 6 production.”
“The Year 6 production never fails to impress me and at times when I was watching ‘Joseph’, I had to remind myself just how young they were as they sang and danced and beamed from the stage. It was a reminder of just how much they’ve learnt and how they’ve grown in confidence and independence, as they worked as a team and encouraged and supported each other. It was incredible to see the joy on their faces.”
“I really believe that school days should be filled with magical moments and I hope that this moment will stay with them for a very long time,” he said.
Pupils at Harrogate Ladies’ College recently produced and performed Annie the musical for families and friends. It is part of a long tradition of drama, dance and music at the school.
